Easter Break 2001

During the Easter Break mum & dad came to visit prior to cruising on the Thames, but shortly before departure the holiday company informed us of the flooding on the Thames, so the holiday was cancelled. During the weekend we decided to try bowling in Basingstoke, which we all enjoyed and then for a meal at the nearby restaurant.

During one weekend we took Leanne and her Friend Hester to the nearby Ice Skating Rink in Basingstoke

Leanne and I often take bike ride to the nearby villages such as Upper Clatford and stop in the Park, below are some pictures.

I auditioned for a new quiz show Called Geo Genius, which required geographic knowledge, this took place at the Meridian studios in Southampton during April and  it was hoped to go to series later in the year, I received a call in July asking me to be a contestant on the 9th  September, the top prize is a holiday of a lifetime.

Towards the end of April we went to visit friends Mike & Lesley in Bristol and stayed for the weekend, BBQing & looking around Bristol Docks on Saturday and lunching with Kev & Sue on Sunday.

On the first of April 2001 we took a coach trip to Olympia in London to visit the Ideal Home Exhibition, it was a tiring day looking at the stands but we saw a few things we liked.

The Silver Plough

Another visit to a pub for us for our wedding anniversary 10th June, the Silver Plough at Pitton, Near Salisbury. This pub is Egon Ronay rated.

Visit To Trilakes with Kevin Wadge     

Another weekend in July visiting, this time to Kevin Wadge's. During the afternoon we visited a nearby country park called Trilakes to feed the animals.

On the 15th of July we met John and Angie Tooth at the Barge Inn Pub, Seend in Wiltshire.

On the 1st of August we met with Martin Cook and family during their holiday at a campsite, not realising that it was in the middle of nowhere , we were okay getting there and had a lovely meal but the return journey in the dark meant we spent a lot of time up and down country lanes in the New Forest looking for civilisation.

During our summer holiday we had a visit from John, Tracey and Charlotte Land on the 17th of August, we took them to Charlton Park, to play in the park and have a game of crazy golf.

On the 27th August unusually hot weather meant that Leanne could go on the river at Upper Clatford.
